Dear Students, Clients, Friends, and Companions on this beautiful journey,
Today I want to tell you a story. It is the story of a transition from one place to another, and from one way of being to another.
Once upon a time, there was a woman, who was married and in her mid-thirties. Although she loved her family, she was in the dark: unhappy in her relationship and hopeless to create change. Late one night, she wondered if everyone would be better off without her. She was unhappy, was blaming herself for her unhappy situation and could see no way out.
As she sat alone in the bathroom with all the pills in the house spread out on the counter before her, she knew she could not go on this way. She wondered: How did things come to this point? How did this happen?
A vision appeared in her mind's eye.
She saw a point of light, and with that point of light she had a memory of a particular moment from her childhood.
Then she saw a second point of light along with another memory, and those two points of light were connected together by a strand of light.
Another point of light and memory came, then another, and another, with each point connected by strands of light to every other point.
A feeling of peace began spreading through her body.
The lights appeared faster and faster, with the memories encompassing her whole life up to that moment, along with a sense of recognition, deep understanding and peace that emerged as a web of light seemed to fill the room. It was as if she were physically resting and held in a hammock of light, with a felt sense of understanding.
She now knew how she got here, and that she could move forward connected and supported by light if she were open and willing.
The invitation to engage with the mysterious gift of life was right there in the room with her, visceral in a way she had never before experienced.
That moment of seeing through her life from outer circumstances, beliefs, thoughts, feelings, all the way to the light source within changed her forever. The limited point of view from just a few minutes before was gone, she had an insight about a step she could take, which she did in the next few days, and the story continued in the way that stories do.
It was an ending to a limited way of being as well as a beginning to many new journeys. The most important journey that followed is the journey to bring the understanding that she received from the vision down to earth, into her body to be expressed through daily life.
I am the woman who lived this story.
Since that time, I studied the philosophy of interconnectedness (Tantric & Yogic wisdom) and better understood my vision, which was a gift of grace when I needed it most.
Through my nearly two decades of study and practice, I learned that a momentary vision, even a very special one, is not the same as living that wisdom all the time. Embodying loving wisdom is a lifelong practice, and life is unpredictable and full of twists and turns. In order to walk across time and space from old story to new story, we need a bridge. My bridge was, and still is, my embodiment practices.
Now after about 20 years of practice I continue to get it deeper into my bones that living is about coming home to peace, love, joy, understanding and vibrancy that is melded with breath and sensation, mind and heart, touch and my body. I learned that love can be experienced and shared in the simplest interactions with others and expressed into the world moment to moment, and that practice is what supports my ongoing capacity to deepen in love. Still, my practice continues to open me to discover my best and truest life, ever-new. What an adventure!
I'd love to share what I’ve learned along the way with you. You can benefit from my research of ancient and modern tools, my personal practice, as well as my 17 years facilitating people to come home to themselves through all sorts of embodied practices: meditation, yoga, movement, nonviolent communication, dance and more.
If you're a woman who wants to come home to your body, heart and soul, facilitate others' embodiment, or a man who wants to integrate his feminine side, consider working with me.
